Most people come to Akeso when they are in pain. Our most consistent patients come before the pain arrives – and stay out of it. They are active, health-conscious individuals who understand that the body responds to how it is maintained, not just how it is treated when it breaks down.
Body maintenance at Akeso is not a luxury. It is a strategy.
What a maintenance session involves
Every session is different – because your body is different each time you come in. Your therapist assesses your current state: what has accumulated since your last session, where the restrictions are, what needs releasing, and what needs activating.
A typical maintenance session combines:
Targeted Manual Therapy
Releasing the muscles and fascia that have loaded up since your last session, with the anatomical precision that makes Akeso's hands-on work genuinely different from a sports massage.
Joint Mobilisation
Restoring range of motion in the thoracic spine, hips, and any other areas showing restriction.
Movement assessment and correction
Identifying any compensatory patterns developing before they become entrenched.
Load management advice
Adjusting your training or activity based on what your body is telling us.
How often?
| Training volume / lifestyle | Recommended frequency |
|---|---|
| High volume sport (4+ sessions per week) | 1-2 sessions per week |
| Moderate training (2-3 sessions per week) | Every 1-2 weeks |
| Active lifestyle, desk-based work | Monthly |
| Post-injury maintenance | As advised by your therapist |
These are guidelines. Your therapist will recommend based on your specific situation and how your body responds.
The difference between feeling better and being better
A maintenance session at Akeso is not about feeling good for a few days. It is about keeping your movement quality, your tissue health, and your body's capacity at a level that means injuries are rare, recovery is fast, and performance stays high.
Think of it like a service on a machine you rely on. You do not wait for it to break down.
